Active Vibration Control on a Smart Composite Structure Using Modal-Shaped Sliding Mode Control

Abstract This article proposes an active modal vibration control method based on a sliding mode controller applied to smart material composite structure with integrated piezoelectric transducers as actuators and sensors. First, the electromechanical coupled system is identified using reduced-order model. The surface modal-filtered states designed general formulation allowing of multiple modes sensors actuators. performance stability nonlinear are addressed confirmed experimental results spoiler-shaped structure. switching signal modal-shaped improves performances linear part while maintaining not only but also robustness. attenuation level achieved target all starts from ?14 dB up ?22 dB, illustrating strong potential methods in control.
